Flight-link sponsored duo of Dharam and Kirit have opened the year with a bang having finished among three top-placed drivers in the seasonal opener held in Dar es Salaam yesterday.
The event which covered a 350 kilometre plus between Dar es Salaam and Coast region had attracted 15 drivers.
Arusha Motor Sports club driver Eric Cormac was sandwiched between the first and the third placed Pandya family of drivers
The Pandya team, father and son (Kirit and Dharam, respectively) have each been using Subaru branded cars and thanked their sponsor Flight Link for the seasonal boost.
“It’s our great pleasure to thank our sponsor who inspired us to the title after showing a great support throughout our preparations as well as during the event as it unfolded”, said Kirit, who is probably the oldest of the competitors who entered the event yesterday.
Kirit, who won the overall best performance award of the Automobile Association of Tanzania, has started well to defend the title scooping 50 points so far.
His son Dharam is at the top of the standings with a staggering 80 points while looking forward to the next event in the AAT calendar while keeping watch on Cormac who has 60 points breathing heavily before his neck.

The AAT has lined up seven events for the season including the African championship to be staged in Dar es Salaam later in September.
Other finishers in yesterday’s rally were Jamil Khan, Bob Taylor, Fayaz Chando and Soho Tuffel. The day-long rally was organized by Dar es Salaam Motor Sports Club which has come into life after years of lay off.
