Finals of the Balimi Extra boat race take place in Mwanza today.

The event comprises 17 men’s teams and 10 women’s teams from the Lake Zone regions of Mwanza, Mara, Kagera, Kigoma and Ukerewe Island specifically.

Balimi Extra brand manager Edith Bebwa said yesterday that all teams had already arrived from their respective areas.

She said winners in the men’s contest shall walk away with Sh 2.6m while women’s contest winners stand to bag Sh 2.2m, meanwhile as men’s event first runners up shall pocket some Sh2.2m and women’s runners up bagging Sh. 1.6m.

The event is sponsored by Tanzania Breweries Limited.
