Khamis Kiiza`s goal ten minutes into the extra time sent packing three-time winners APR in the Kagame Cup semifinal clash staged at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam yesterday.

 Yanga meet debutants Azam FC in the Saturday final after the later eased past AS Vita in an earlier in the afternoon semifinal match played at the same venue.

The Yanga-APR match had ended in barren draw during the regulation time before extending into extra time.
 Yanga have beaten APR twice in the tournament after last Saturday’s 2-0 win during the group c preliminaries. APR failed to avenge the defeat despite throwing everything into the match.

Yesterday’s game kicked off slowly. without real threats until in the eleventh minute when Leonel St. Preus’s thunderbolt hit Yanga’s cross bar with goalkeeper Ali Mustafa well beaten.

 Yanga midfielder Athumani Iddi tried a long range but APR keeper Ndoli Jean Claude parried it into safety a minute later.

Mustafa saved Dan Wagaluka’s close range shot on the brink of half time mark.

APR resumed the second half promisingly after dominating the entire first half with Preus testing Mustafa after 13 minutes.

APR keeper had to make a brilliant save from Saidi Bahanuzi’s attempt after 66 minutes as Yanga kept on attacking. A minute later Kiiza ran into the area took one defender before Ngabo Albert came to the rescue.

Referee Anthony Ogwayo waived a penalty appeal by Yanga when APR defender looked to have touched the ball in the 74th minute. Yanga brought in Rashid Gumbo for Shamte Ali in the 90th minute, as the midfielder made his presence felt with a wide volley.

APR came close to seal off the winner with Heriman shoot from a narrow angle after rounding off Yanga keeper.

David Luhende free kick almost got Yanga a lead in the 94th minute when Ndoli Claude’s punch aborted the move.

before the 100th minute decisive goal as Haruna Niyonzima made the spade work  before a cool finished by Kiiza for the killer strike. Three minutes later Godfrey Taita received matching orders with a second yellow card as Yanga were down to ten men.

APR last gasp attacks almost paid off when Mugiraneza  Jean was denied by Yanga keeper who went down
injured to kill a six minutes.
