Famed African jazz king, Hugh Masekela

 

Famed African jazz king, Hugh Masekela, will perform today at Golden Tulip Hotel in Dar es Salaam, sponsors of the event, Stanbic Bank, disclosed yesterday.

Stanbic Bank Head of Marketing and Cooperate Affairs, Abdallah Singano, said the show will be preceeded by a performances from local traditional music queen Sauda Simba.

He said his company is privileged to be associated with the music industry in Tanzania.

ìWe're very happy to bring the great African musician to the people of the country to enjoy and celebrate the blend of African Jazz,î he said, adding that was the beginning of many good things to come.

Masekela promised a good show and asked all African music lovers to witness his live performance.

ì I'm ready want all music lovers to come in huge numbers to see one of the best performances from me and my band.

Masekela was born in 1939 in South Africa and started his music career at the age of 14.

Some of the accolades he has won include 2010 South Africa National Order and the African Music Legend Award which was held in Ghana in 2007.
