Tanzania national women soccer team, the Twiga Stars have secured another friendly tie against their South African counterparts to be played at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam on Sunday.

The trial match has come at the right time for the right purpose as the Stars  are gearing up for the crucial African Women Championship qualifier first leg tie against Ethiopia to be played in Addis Ababa six days later.

The women team re-opened a camp at their Ruvu JKT base after weeks of trial matches upcountry which was broken by a pause when they played visiting Zimbabwe side last week.

The South African team popularly known as Banyana Banyana is also gearing up for a crucial qualifier tie against Zambia with the first leg to be played in Lusaka on May 26.

The friendly against South African is the second in a week after the team crumbled to Zimbabwe by 4-1 goals.

Stars coach Charles Boniface Mkwasa has recalled veteran Esther Chabruma to join the team ahead of the weekend tie against the South African team.
Meanwhile, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has appointed officials from Rwanda to be in charge of the Stars match against Ethiopia in Addis Ababa.

The officials are Angelique Tuyishime who will be the central referee and will be assisted by Sandrine Murangwa, Speciose Nyinawabari and Salma Mukansanga. Match commissioner is Ugandan Catherine Adipo.
The return leg match will be played in Dar es Salaam and the winner would cruise into the AWC berth to be staged in Equatorial Guinea.

Stars are eagerly in need to win their second appearance in the AWC after taking part in their maiden show when South African hosted the tourney in 2010.

While the team enjoyed a bye to compete in South Africa, this time it has to go through torrid qualifiers to realize the berth.
