A total of 25 tennis teenagers between four and 18 years have confirmed to feature in a three-day junior tennis camp scheduled for Friday at the Kijitonyama Tennis Club in Dar es Salaam.
The camp, to be conducted by Italian tennis expert Fabrizio Caldarone, is organised by the Tanzania Tennis Association, TTA, to promote the game at grassroots level.
TTA’s secretary general Inger Njau said all have been set for the camping.
Njau said the camp will be conducted in the theme ‘Tennis for Life’, in reference to the ongoing tennis outreach project that seeks to introduce the sport to his every household.
She said the kids will be put under two days of full immersion tennis practice while the final day will be dedicated to a networking of competitive event featuring all participants.
“The ‘Tennis for Life’ tennis outreach project is not only about giving a great chance to young tennis athletes, but also to create a platform of players, generate enthusiasm around and spread the passion in Dar es Salaam and then to other regions. We sincerely appeal to parents to register their young stars to this important camp,” she said.
The visiting tennis expert will be assisted by Kijitonyama Club coach Boaz Kasiba and assistants Francis Kanuti and Musa Haruna.
“Domestic coaches will also have the opportunity to gauge their coaching skills as we underline on our desire to take the game of tennis to the next level,” so says Njau.
