A Muslim clergy, Al Rahman Mosque Sheikh Abdullah Salim Bahssany has requested companies, organisations and individuals to provide free iftar to Muslims to break the fast in this month of Ramadan.
He was speaking on Saturday in Dar es Salaam when the Embassy of the United Arab Emirate (UAE) in the country through Khalifa Bin Zaayid Al Nahyaan group gave iftar to Muslims at his mosque.
The embassy and the group will provide food to members of Al Rahman Mosque and other surrounding areas during the whole month of Ramadan.
He thanked the Embassy and the group for the iftar and asked other people to emulate the gesture shown by the embassy and the group.
“I am asking all Muslims in Kinondoni district who are observing the Holy month of Ramadhan but are not sure of getting iftar to come here for the food and also prayers, ” he said.
Some members of the mosque thanked the embassy for the hospitality, saying it will ease some of the problems they face getting the iftar at selling points.
