National Muslim Council (Bakwata) Regional Sheikh for Dar es Salaam, Alhadi Musa, has advised Muslims to pray for country’s peace and tranquility during the fasting month of Ramadhan.
He made the call the weekend at a special Iftar organised by BancABC Tanzania for its customers and different people in Dar es Salaam. Sheihk Musa urged the believers to pray beyond fasting, advising them to leave all sorts of evils.
“My fellow Muslims, my call to you is that fasting is not the only way that you will be counted for your deeds by Al-Might God. We are supposed to abstain from doing all sins, if we want to be counted as good people before God,” he noted. The cleric applauded the bank for providing Iftar to believers.
For his part, BancABC’s Head of Finance Mwalimu Zubery said that their bank has hosted the Iftar dinner for customers and the members of the Muslim community to create mutual relations amongst them.
Meanwhile, Zubery said that the bank recorded a 32bn/- profit over the last year and is hopping to beat its targets in the next 12 months.
The bank commenced operations in 1996, as an asset financing institutions under the joint ownership of CDC Capital Partners (CDC), International Finance Corporation (IFC), TDFL and the Union Dominions Corporation (UDC).
BancABC operated as a merchant bank since 2002 and introduced retail banking operations in 2008. It opened its first branch in Tanzania in March 2010 and aims to rollout more branch outlets in various parts of the country.
