



Uzini Representative Mohammed Raza has pledged to use his salary, allowances and pension to improve the social and economic development of his constituency.
Apart from allowances, Raza said the 4m/- monthly salary and 63m/- pension provided to all House of Representatives upon their retirement would be used to develop a number of projects in his constituency in fulfillment of electoral pledge.
Raza, who was elected in a by-election held last month made the pledge here yesterday when addressing journalists and a delegation of Chama cha Mapinduzi zealots shortly after being sworn in by Speaker of the Zanzibar House of Representatives.
During his campaign, he said, he and his family made a number of promises, adding that it was now time to fulfill them.
“Even before I took the oath, a promised that I would start working on my promises within four months after my victory. A number of projects are currently being undertaken on which I have spent more than 50m/- to ensure their completion,” he said.
Raza explained that since being elected as the representative of Uzini constituency he had dished out 20m/- to support the construction of infrastructure, 20m/- to support 25 sports clubs and 12.9m/- on water projects in the area.
The by-election in Uzini constituency was held after the incumbent Rep, Khamis Mussa Silima, died following a road accident in Dodoma last August 12.
