Young Africans Sports Club (Yanga) were yesterday dethroned as Mainland premiership champions after losing their crucial away match with Kagera Sugar 1-0.

With just two matches to go, there is no way the Dar es Salaam-based club, which has 43 points, could reach 56 points, which their archrivals Simba Sports Club obtained yesterday after winning at home.

The lone goal that sank Yanga at Kaitaba Stadium was scored in the 29th minute by Shija Mkina, a Simba striker currently on loan to Kagera Sugar.

Simba kept their sights on the title after beating visitors JKT Ruvu 3-0 at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam, the goals scored by Uhuru Selemani, Emmanuel Okwi and Haruna Moshi.
