Exim Bank donates water storage tanks to Dar school

4th May 2012

Exim Bank Tanzania has donated two water storage tanks with the capacity of storing 10,000 litres of water to Pwani Primary School at Kunduchi village in Dar es Salaam.

Speaking at the handover ceremony at the school yesterday, the school headteacher, Fredy Sudy said the donation will help in the availability of safe and clean water at the school, especially when the city experiences water shortage.

“Pupils are forced to go back to their homes in search of drinking water and at times beg water from the neighbouring communities. We are grateful that Exim bank has been able to come to our rescue,” he said.

“After securing the water tanks, we will call a parents meeting this weekend to help us work on a sustainable water harvesting project at the school,” he said.

Earlier, Sudy pointed out that the school is encountering various challenges among which are lack of toilet facilities and desks thus calling upon more companies to render support to it.

For her part, Exim Bank Tanzania Limited public relations and marketing manager Linda Chiza urged pupils to make good use of the water tanks so that they can serve them for a long time.

“These tanks are now yours, ensure that they are always in good condition so that they can continue serving you for a long time,” she stressed.

She however called upon the students to develop a saving culture while still young that would help them sustain their lives in future urging that her bank has got specific accounts to cater for children’s needs.
