15 referees for Kagame Cup

Fifteen referees have been selected by the Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) to officiate matches of the Kagame Cup championship that kicks off on July 14 in Dar es Salaam.

The referees and linesmen have been advised to report in Dar es Salaam on July 11, three days ahead of the tourney.

The referees will undergo physical tests to ascertain their fitness at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam for two days beginning on July 12.

A CECAFA appointed instructors to be announced later will be in charge of the fitness tests.

The appointed referees and their countries in brackets are Anthony Ogwayo (Kenya), Dennis Batte (Uganda), Israel Mujuni (Tanzania), Issa Kagabo (Rwanda), Thierry Nkurunziza (Burundi), Farah Aden Ali (Djibouti) and Waziri Sheha (Zanzibar).

Assistant referees called are Elias Kuloba and Peter Sabatia (Kenya), Musa Balikoowa (Uganda), Hamis Chang'walu and Jesse Erasmo (Tanzania), Simba Honore (Rwanda), Abdulahi Mahamoud (Djibouti) and Josephat Bulali (Zanzibar).

Selection of the officials has been based on their competence and country representation in the annual tournament.

All matches will be played at the National Stadium and Chamazi where Azam FC is based.

Besides Azam FC, Mainland Tanzania will feature two other teams of Simba and holders Young Africans.
