The national soccer team is expected to receive a brand new bus next week courtesy of their sponsors, Tanzania Breweries Limited.
The firm’s brand manager for the Kilimanjaro beer George Kavishe, said the donation is one of the pledged items earmarked for the team since taking over the sponsorship last year.
“When we took over sponsorship among the objectives was to raise the status of the team and one of the things we promised was purchasing a brand new bus”, said Kavishe.
The spacious bus capable of accommodating 50 passengers is worth 200 million shillings according to Kavishe.
“This is an athletic coach and has been designed to ferry footballers and their equipment as it can carry a load of up to three tones,” he said.
“Our players should be comfortable whenever they travel hence the reason for us as sponsors choosing to go for a modern posh bus,” he said.
The handing over ceremonies will be held at the brewers’ premises mid next week.
The handing over ceremony will be attended by a number of football stakeholders and other invited guests.
After the handover, the bus will be briefly tested within the city roads so the public can have a look.
“This is a gift from Tanzanians to the national team as they are the ones enabling us to do all these things….the more they consume our brands the more we get funds to facilitate such valuable sponsorships,” he said.
The brewers have committed to sponsor the national soccer team through a lucrative injection of two billion shillings every year for five since May 2012.
TFF has on several occasions expressed satisfaction with the brewers’ sponsorship enabling the federation to effectively plot long term plans.
The brewers’ sponsorship package has exceeded the rest in the history of the national team.
