The African soccer body, CAF, has suspended match commissioner Hafidh Ali indefinitely.
The Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) information officer, Boniface Wambura, said yesterday that Hafidh was suspended by the African Cup of Nations organizing committee which met on January 17 in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Wambura said that according to the suspension letter signed by CAF secretary general Hicham El Amrani sent to TFF, said that Hafidh was suspended after failing to give the report of match number 78.
It was an Afcon qualifying match between Comoro and Libya where CAF appointed him as commissioner. This year’s Afcon final ended in South Africa last Sunday where Nigeria’s Super Eagles beat Burkina Faso 1-0 to claim the title.
Meanwhile, TFF has congratulated leaders who were elected at the Tanzania Sports Medicine Association (Tasma) general election last Sunday in Dar es Salaam.
Wambura said that TFF had promised to work closely with the newly-elected Tasma executive committee.
Dr. Mwanandi Mwankemwa was elected the new chairman when he scored 18 votes to defeat Biyondho Ngome who was defending his title.
Others elected are Dr Nassoro Matuzya (secretary-general), Sheky Mngazija (assistant secretary general), Dr Juma Mzimbiri (treasurer), Joakim Mshanga (Tasma representative at TFF general meeting) and Hemed Mziray (executive committee member).
