The electoral committee of the Tanzania Football Federation has suspended the body’s general election that was supposed to be held in Dar es Salaam on February 24.
The committee’s chairman Deogratius Lyatto said through his press release yesterday that there are some discrepancies that need to be ironed out before going ahead with the election.
Based on the powers versed with the committee as per chapter 10(5), the suspension is valid and a new date for election will be announced later.
The Tanzania Premier League Board election has also been suspended as well.
The TFF election has been clouded by complaints particularly from those candidates who have been axed by the committee.
Some of the football stakeholders have also faulted TFF for adopting constitutional draft without the blessings of the body’s annual general assembly.
TFF election has been dominating talks of the football stakeholders in the country for two weeks now.
Axed candidates Michael Wambura and Jamal Malinzi have been vocal in the media criticising the electoral committee.
Incumbent vice-president Athumani Nyamlani was the only candidate among those who aspired to the body’s presidential post was cleared for the polls. Nyamlani is seeking to take the reigns of president Leodegar Tenga who is not seeking re-election.
