`Kili Jivunie uTanzania` bonanza mesmerizes Mbeya residents

Mbeya residents on Saturday turned up in hundreds to take part in the ‘’Kili Jivunie uTanzania Campaign which was coloured by entertainment from the Extra Bongo Band led by Ally Choki.

The event, organized by Kilimanjaro Premium Lager, which is inline with the country’s 50th Anniversary celebrations, was preceded by a peaceful march from Mbeya City centre through Soweto to the CCM Ilomba Grounds, which turned ton be was a bee hive of activities.

Mbeya residents started thronging the grounds from as early as 11am as others joined the procession all the way to the grounds as they sang patriotic songs. The procession was flagged-off by the acting Mbeya Regional Police Commander Anaclet Marindisa.

Speaking at the bonanza, the RPC, who was the guest of honour lauded Tanzania Breweries Limited for coming up with such a creative campaign and said it would help many people to contemplate on the journey they have walked so far and where they are heading to.

"There have been lots of challenges during the 50 years of independence and we must think of better ways of handling the future," he said.

On his part, the Kilimanjaro Premium Lager Brand Manager, George Kavishe, said Tanzanians have a lot to be proud of during the 50 years of independence which among others include peace, love and Kiswahili, which have united Tanzanians.

He said similar bonanzas have already taken place in Dar es Salaam, Kilimanjaro and Mwanza.

Extra Bongo dance ensured that revelers were on their feet for more than three hours consecutively and the biggest attraction was Ally Choki and Banza Stone.

Meanwhile, friends of TBL also coloured the bonanza with friendly fun football matches that were played in the Simba/Yanga format. Simba and Yanga are two big clubs in Tanzania mainland that are sponsored by Kilimanjaro Premium Lager.

 

Teams that took part in the bonanza include TBL, Vodacom, Pepsi, Mbeya Cement, Zantel and Mkong'oto. A total of four matches were played and Yanga emerged victorious by scoring a total of two goals in all the matches while Simba only scored once.

In the first match, Mkong'oto (Yanga) played Zantel (Simba) where Mkong'oto won 1-0 while in the second match TBL (Yanga) played Mbeya Cement (Simba) and the game ended with a 1-1 draw.

The third match was between TBL (Simba) against Vodacom (Simba) in which none of the teams scored. The fourth match, which also ended with a scoreless draw, was between Pepsi (Yanga) and Vodacom (Simba).

The Kili Jivunie uTanzania Campaign was officially launched in July this year and will end in December when Tanzania marks 50 years of Uhuru by taking the national flag to the top of Mt Kilimanjaro.
