Arusha head of Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania (ELCT) Northern chapter, Dr Thomas Laiser, over the weekend, reminded and encouraged the public to effectively participate in the upcoming national census. In his words ‘the censuses are key to nation development’.

He was speaking at a fundraiser where 31m/- was raised in cash and pledges for the construction of a church in Arusha whose completion is due next year. Tanzanians, during the ceremony, were urged to strengthen the brotherly spirit of helping each other as such socialisation will unite the nation and is the basis to achieving sustainable development. The advice was issued by Emmanuel Ole Naiko who was the guest of honor at the fundraising ceremony for the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania (ELCT) at the Moivaro chapter in Arusha.

He said majority of Tanzanians are people with average standard of life but they are always ready to give a tendency that was encouraged as virtuous and the nation was encouraged to ‘uphold this important spirit’ and to teach it to children.

Head of ELCT at Moivaro, Pastor Daniel Kambaine said up to now over 133m/- have already been used in constructing the church and of this, the congregation has contributed over 84m/-.
