


As Vita Club of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) are expected to arrive in the country on July 12 ready to take part in the regional club championship.
The East and Central Africa club championship popularly known as Kagame Cup will be staged in Dar es Salaam from July 14-28.
The Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) information officer, Boniface Wambura, said yesterday that both teams would arrive in the evening.
Wambura said AS Vita will stay at Rombo Green View and URA at Royal Valentino.
AS Vita Club and URA are in Group `A’ together with Tanzania Mainland champions Simba and Ports (Djibouti).
Kagame Cup defending champions Young Africans (Yanga) will play Atletico of Burundi in the opening match at the National Stadium.
It will be the second match of Group `C’ with the first game pitting APR of Rwanda and newcomers Wau Salaam of South Sudan.
Mainland champions Simba SC will start their campaign on July 16 when they take on URA in a Group `A’ game at the National Stadium. It will be the second match of the group after the one involving Vita Club and Ports.
Mainland Premier League third-placed Azam FC will play Mafunzo of Zanzibar in the next day in a Group `B’ match at Chamazi ground. Kenya’s Tusker are also in the group.
The tournament is annually organized by the Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (Cecafa) under the sponsorship of President Paul Kagame of Rwanda and it attracts club champions of Cecafa member countries and some invited countries. Vita Club is an invitee side this year.
The club that emerge champions will be awarded 30,000 dollars while the first and second runners-up will walk away with 20,000 dollars and 10,000 dollars, respectively.
