Two promoted to Court of Appeal judges

President Jakaya Kikwete has promoted two High Court judges to be Justices of the Court of Appeal. The appointments of the two Justices, Semistodes Kaijage and Kipenka Musa, take effect from May 21, this year, according to State House Chief Secretary Ambassador Ombeni Sefue’s statement.

Before his new appointment as Justice of the Court of Appeal, Kaijage (57) was a Principal Judge at the High Court, Dar es Salaam Zone. He was appointed to the High Court in November, 2000.

Musa (57) was serving as Principal Judge at the High Court, Tanga Zone. Before his appointment as Justice of the Court of Appeal, he worked as State Attorney, Clerk of the National Assembly, Principal Judge, High Court - Bukoba Zone. He was appointed as High Court Judge on September 13, 2004.

Meanwhile, Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) Chairman and President Jakaya Kikwete yesterday congratulated Washington-based CCM branch for well job done recruiting more then 200 new members.

Kikwete hailed efforts by the branch leadership for opening an office and recruiting 250 new members in Washington DC and cities of MarlyLand and Virginia.

President thanked the leaders during talks with CCM Washington’s branch Chairman at Ritz-Carlton Hotel.

"A big clap to all of you…for activating the presence of CCM here in Washington DC, especially at this time, when there many challenges,” he told branch leaders represented by Chairman Loveness Mamuya, Secretary General Jacob Kinyemi and Publicity Secretary Givens Kisanji.

In an official statement read on behalf of the branch chairman, Kinyemi said the “infant party branch” faced daunting political and economic challenges.

However, Kikwete challenged the branch leadership and members to stand firm in sustaining success stories registered by the CCM government.
