The national women soccer side, Twiga Stars, play Zimbabwe in a friendly at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam today.
Twiga Stars who have been in a friendly match tour of Dodoma and Mwanza, returned in the city yesterday ready to face the visitors.
While in Mwanza, they played Rock City Queens in a match interrupted by a heavy downpour at 58 minutes. Before the downpour they were 5-0 ahead.
The team’s head coach Charles Boniface Mkwasa said today’s game will be a good test for his side before they meet Ethiopia in an Africa Women Cup tie on May 26 in Addis Ababa.
Zimbabwe coach Rosemary Mugadza said she was happy to play the host side because it was a tough team which will make her side prepare well ahead of their game against Nigeria.
This will be the third time for the teams to meet. They first met last year in a COSAFA women’s tourney semi final on July 5 in Harare, Zimbabwe, where the host team won 4-2.
They again met in the All Africa Games in Maputo, Mozambique and drew 2-2 on neutral ground.
