This year Channel O Music Video Awards are here again and local artists have been selected in three categories.
Early this week, Channel O said that local artistes have been nominated in the Most Gifted East African Video Artist, Most Gifted Afro Pop and Most Gifted Duo Group and Video Artist categories.
Abwana Yesaya alais AY featuring US-based Miss Triniti and Cpwaa were nominated in the Most Gifted East African Video Artist category while local musician Shaa song Crazy was nominated in the Most Gifted Afro Pop category.
AY's song, `Good Look', was nominated in the Most Gifted Duo.
On why many Tanzania musicians were failing to make it into this popular competition, AY said it was down to how many Tanzanian artists were featuring on Channel O and the quality of their videos.
ìWe must improve the quality of our music being played on Channel O," he said.
The awards this year feature multiple artists with two or more nods, making it open for nominees in 14 categories.
Other nominees include South Africaís Zakes Bantwini whose ëWasting My Timeí clip has earned him a nod in the Most Gifted Video of the Year category as well as Most Gifted Male Video. He is up against Nigeriaís DíBanj with his ëMr. Endowed (Remix)í featuring Snoop Dogg.
In the Most Gifted Newcomer category, Nigeriaís Wizkid is vying for the title in a field that includes South Africaís AKA, Ugandaís Keko, Nigeriaís Ice Prince, Zambiaís Zone Fam and South Africaís Kwesta in one of the most exciting categories at this yearís event.
