



Mobile network provider Zantel has donated 25 mobile phones to Arusha Municipal Councillors to easy communication within the council and among the councilors and top council leadership.
Municipal Council Mayor Gaudence Lyimo, received the handsets here yesterday on behalf of the ward councillors.
Handing over the communication gadgets at the city council chambers Zantel marketing director Deepak Gupta said the phones were enrolled in the Closed Used Group (CUG) package that enables unlimited calls 42 hours a day within the group.
Gupta said his company was committed to partner with the government to foster development in the country through communication.
“With these handsets, which are equipped with Zantel SIM cards, the municipal staff can communicate themselves free of charge with the Closed User Group package enabling real collaboration across the various council units at the same time maintaining costs predictability,” asserted Gupta.
For his part, Mayor Lyimo, commended Zantel for its move to empower the city council with communication gadgets, affirming the initiative will expedite communication and save the council a lot of costs.
“As municipality we are grateful for the timely support as we’re currently in the process of streamlining our core departments and functions to enable serve Arusha residents better and through this Zantel offer we’ll ably save communication costs and channel those funds into other development initiatives,” he said.
