Champions of the newly introduced soccer league, BancABC Super 8, will pocket 40m/-.
The Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) Information Officer, Boniface Wambura, said yesterday that the team finishing second will be awarded 20m/-.
Wambura said losing semifinalists shall each walk away with 15m/- while the remaining teams will receive consolation prizes of 5m/- each.
The tournament kicks off tomorrow in Dar es Salaam, Zanzibar, Mwanza and Arusha.
The teams have been divided in two groups. Group `A’ has Mainland champions Simba, Jamhuri and Zimamoto both from Zanzibar.
Group `B’ comprises Zanzibar champions Super Falcon, Azam FC, Mtibwa Sugar and Polisi Morogoro.
Simba play Jamhuri in the opening match in Dar es Salaam today. Matches set for tomorrow are Zimamoto versus Mtende (Mwanza), Mtibwa Sugar versus Polisi Morogoro (Arusha) and Super Falcon versus Azam (Zanzibar).
The group stage will end on August 12. Wambura said the semi-finals will be played in Dar es Salaam.
Sponsors BancABC will meet costs of return air tickets for all competing sides.
Yanga, who retained the Cecafa Kagame Cup last Sunday, have pulled out of the tournament, replaced by Mtibwa Sugar, who finished fourth in the Mainland premier league last season.
