Teams arrive for Kagame tourney

A South Sudan representative in this year’s edition of Kagame Cup championships, El Salaam Wau, is expected to land at the Julius Nyerere International Airport in Dar es Salaam this morning.
 
Besides the Sudanese team, Burundi’s Atletico Olympique is also expected any time today as they travel by bus from Bujumbura.
 
El Salaam Wau are expected to arrive with 25 people, including 18 players and the rest are officials.

The Tanzania Football Federation’s information officer, Boniface Wambura, named the Wau line-up on board the Ethiopian Airlines flight as Khamis Leone Uso Wani (skipper), Adheil Bugwic Jongkor Bugwic, Edward Joram Simon Julio, Fidel Andrea Fides Fas, Ismael Musa Juma Ismael, James Anei Matheli Anei, Jervas Ayo Abdalla Ayak, Khamis Doshama Ulama Andel and Meki Sultan Berema Kuku.
 
Others are Moga Emmanuel Androga, Mubarak Mohammed Saleh Omer, Ndili Rabeh Nasir Hozi, Nizir Rihan Taban Talib, Oliver Paul Kangi Akok, Rabie Mohammed Abubakar Hassan, Rufino Joseph Uras Ambros, Santino Makuei Uyu Upio and Thomas Rufino Thomas Diakon.
 
Other teams on the arrival schedule from tomorrow include Zanzibar champs Mafunzo, DRC’s AS Vita and Uganda’s URA.
   The tournament has drawn eleven teams including Dar es Salaam’s premiership trio of Azam FC, Simba and title holders Young Africans.

The holders will kick off the tournament against Burundi’s Atletico Olympique at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam on Saturday.

The championship, whose $60,000 prize package is annually sponsored by Rwanda President Paul Kagame, hence the event’s tag, is back-to-back staged in Dar es Salaam for the first time since its inauguration in 1974.
