Azam striker John Bocco

Azam striker John Bocco has intensified his inexorable quest to chase golden boot award in the ongoing Mainland premier soccer league after attaining 13 number of goals last Wednesday.

Bocco who was leading by just a goal over second placed Yanga’s Ghanaian striker Kenneth Assamoah, scored a brace against Coastal Union in his team’s 3-o victory last Wednesday to hit the new mark.

Bocco has so far opened a two-goal cushion over the Ghanaian who was joined by Simba’s Ugandan striker Emmanuel Okwi on ten-goal haul so far.

Okwi scored one among the three goals his team won against visiting Kagera Sugar in another league match played at the National Stadium in Adar es Salaam during the midweek fixtures.

Bocco stands a chance to widen the gap when his team play holders Young Africans at the national Stadium tomorrow should his coach include him into the line up.

The match will be an affair between Bocco and Assamoah as fans wait to see who will be on top of the other in terms of scoring prowess.

Mainland premiership action was halted for the past two weeks following international matches that involved players from Simba, Azam and Yanga.

While Yanga competed in the CAF Champions League, Simba were in the Confederation Cup and Taifa Stars featured in the African nations Cup qualifier for 2013 championship in South Africa.

Other goal scorers in the Mainland league with their number of goals and teams in bracket are; Nsa Job (Villa, 8), Gaudence Mwaikimba (Moro 6), Mohamed Kijuso (Villa 5+Ruvu 1).

Five goals have been scored by Said Dilunga (Kagera), Semsue Juma (Police), Hamisi Kiiza (Yanga), Hussein Javu (Mtibwa), Said Bahanuzi (Mtibwa) and Patrick Mafisango (Simba).

Four goals each are Rajab Chau (JKT Ruvu), Sudi Mohamed (Toto), Felix Sunzu (Simba), Enyina Darlington (Toto), Gervas Kago (Simba), Semmy Kessy (Lyon) and Yanga’s Zambian import Davis Mwape.
