Christians in Tanzania yesterday joined their fellow believers the world over to commemorate the crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ more than 2000 years ago.

Good Friday comes a few days after Palm Sunday, which marks the triumphant entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem.
In most parts of the country many Christians attended Good Friday prayers.

The prayers were held at the national level at St. Patrice Cathedral in Morogoro region and were led by Bishop Telesphor Mkude.

Good Friday precedes Easter Sunday tomorrow, which is the the cornerstone of Christian faith because it marks the triumph of Jesus Christ over death.

According to the Christian Council of Tanzania, Easter prayers will be held at the national level in Morogoro deocese of the Anglican Church and will be led by Bishop Godfrey Seheba.

According to the Bible, Jesus Christ is believed to have died at around 3 p.m. He was crucified in 33 AD for the sake of humanity. His death is believed to be the victory of good over evil.
