After dismal performance of the Tanzania junior tennis players during the continental championship staged in Cairo last month, the Dar players have missed slots into the African team.

The African team is expected to compete in the co-sanctioned International Tennis Federation and Grand Slam Development Fund tournaments that get underway at the end of July through August in Europe.

The team was chosen from players who qualified into the quarterfinals of the Cairo’s continental championship.

The national tennis youth coach, Hassan Kassim, said the African junior tennis team players will contest against their counterparts from Europe, America and Asian squads in a series of competitions to be staged in four European countries of France, Netherlands, Germany and Belgium.

He said the team will arrive in France on July 5 for two days camp training before the start of the contest from July 9-15. The African team will start with the BNP Paribas Cup at Stade Francas in Paris.

Kassim said from France the team will travel to Velp in Netherlands for Windmill Cup from July 16-22 and return to France for the Deshaunts de Seine event at Rucil Maimaison from July 23-29.

The team will leave for Cologne, Germany for the Under 14 Internationale Deutsche Tennismeistersrschiften from July 30 through August.

The team, according to him, will wind up the tour in Championship Cup in Hasselt, Belgium from 6-12 August .
