Construction of primary court in Kawe constituency resurfaced yesterday in the parliament after its MP Halima Mdee (Chadema) questioned the government over its failure to implement its 2011/12 promises of allocating funds for the construction of the court.

Ummy Ally Mwalimu, Deputy Minister for Community Development, Gender and Children responded on behalf of the Minister for Constitution and Legal Affairs , Mathias Chikawe.

Mwalimu criticised the World Bank project for lasting in December last year.

The deputy minister said the World Bank was the key sponsor for construction of different projects that includes Kawe primary court.

“The government plans to move services nearer its citizens…part of which includes the construction of Kawe primary court,” she said.

Mwalimu said already the government has surveyed and identified the area where construction will be undertaken in Kawe.

During the construction, the minister said, the government plans to construct residential houses for primary court magistrates.

Meanwhile, the Mwalimu told the house that the government had hired 300 judges to be allocated to 103 districts in the country.

Last year, the minister for constitution and legal affairs told the house that the government was planning to construct a primary court in Kawe constituency during the 2011/12 fiscal year but nothing was implemented.
