The Pakistani community in Tanzania has expressed satisfaction with historic relations between the two countries.

The remarks were made by Pakistan High Commissioner to Tanzania Tajammual Altaf when addressing diplomats, government officials and representatives from institutions in Dar es Salaam at a ceremony to mark the country's 72nd National Day.

“It is quite heartening that President Jakaya Kikwete has reiterated a sincere desire to further expand and strengthen the friendly relations and cooperation between the two countries,” Altaf said.

Altaf noted that the Pakistani community was earnestly praying for continued success, progress, prosperity and economic development in Tanzania.

“We are proud to continue with capacity building programmes for the people of this country in the fields of diplomacy, defence, industry, agriculture, education, banking, postal services, railways, human resources and management,” he noted.

He said the government of Pakistan had a number of projects in Tanzania, adding that the two countries had signed some memorandums of understanding (MoUs), hoping that they would provide the solid foundation for strengthening bilateral relations.

Altaf thanked the people of Tanzania for being friendly and their continued support for Pakistani nationals.

According to him, they stand with the Tanzanian leadership and the people for achieving progress and economic development as well as prosperity for the people of the two countries.
