Leading Tanzanian women football referees Judith Gamba and Mwanahija Makame have successfully attended the Confederation of African Football (CAF) organised seminar that ended in Yaounde over the weekend.

The duo returned home mid this week after a week-long seminar that started in Yaounde from June 18.

The course was intended for football officials from the English speaking countries.

Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) information officer Boniface Wambura said, among others, the referees who have FIFA badges underwent fitness and psychical tests.

Wambura said the seminar served as an eye-opener for the referees fraternity in the country.

The TFF spokesman said lessons gained from the seminar would be used to improve officiating in the country.

The TFF hopes the referee duo would share their knowledge and experience to their colleagues.

In related development, Wambura said CAF has extended invitation to the football federation to send delegates to education officers course to be held in Yaounde for three days from July 19.

He, however, declined to name delegate(s) who would be selected to attend the course.

He just said the education department of TFF is responsible to appoint delegates to attend the course.

In an earlier interview, TFF secretary general Angetile Osiah said chances are high that Tanzania Women Football chairperson Lina Mhando is likely to attend a CAF women coaching instructors course to be staged in Yaounde for four days from July 9. Osiah did not give more details while insisting he needs time to verify with relevant authorities.

“The invitation maybe lined up to an individual, so it is difficult for me to name a person who is to attend the seminar. However, chances are very high that Mhando might be picked to attend the course,” he said.
