Immigration mulls public training on aliens` identification

The Immigration Department here mulls public education on identifying aliens to enable the residents identify illegal immigrants and report them to appropriate authorities.

Dodoma regional immigration officer Norah Massawe revealed this recently during the training held in the region.

She said the training was organised in an effort to contain the problem of illegal immigrants in the country.

Massawe said his Department would provide the public education in all six districts of Dodoma region through ward chairpersons. “We have drawn a lesson provision timetable in each and every ward, and we have assigned officers to the respective wards," she added.

The immigration boss said that because of the number of immigration officers in the region was big, the training would be conducted in phases, starting with Dodoma urban and Kondoa districts, followed by Chamwino, Bahi, Kongwa and Mpwapwa.

The officer said that in Dodoma Urban 37 wards will benefit; 21 in Bahi; 22 in Kongwa; 28 in Chamwino; and 30 in Mpwapwa.

She also informed that there were no details yet on the number of beneficiary wards in Kondoa district.
