Brewers take charge of beauty pageantry

Tanzania Breweries Limited has signed a three-year contract with Lino Agency as principal sponsors of the country’s premier beauty pageantry, the Miss Tanzania.

The news was broken in Dar es Salaam as the brewers’ marketing manager Fimbo Butala and Lino Agency’s director Hashim Lundenga announced the pact yesterday.

The brewers will be in charge of sponsorship with effect from this year’s edition set for September in Dar es Salaam up to the 2012.

Butala said his firm has leapfrogged into the driving seat of the sponsorship wagon after taking part in low profile for several years.

“We have proved our strong commitment to intensify our involvement in the beauty industry through taking the ultimate responsibility for the next three years in a row,” said Butala.

The brewers will be onboard the sponsorship flight of Miss Tanzania through their Redds brand of beverage that would also carry the name of the event.

“We are delighted to take this opportunity as main sponsor of the Tanzania’s premier beauty pageantry,” said the brewer’s marketer, Butala.

Lundenga expressed his sincere appreciation to the new sponsors who are getting on board to take over from where former sponsors Vodacom has left.

Lundenga, well versed in the pageantry business since the event was revived in 1994, says fans and all those who follow the beauty shows with a tenacious zeal should expect more fascinating and thrilling events for the opening season right from the preliminaries.

He said disparity in the gravity of prize packages as the case has always been in the past is a result of the prevailing economic capabilities of each zone or region.

He cited example of big cities in the likes of Dar es Salaam, Arusha, Mwanza and Mbeya to mention a few, have always been maintaining big cake in terms of prize packages.

However, he said the Miss Tanzania hopefuls should remain unfazed by those while focusing on the premier show in September.

Past winners of Miss Tanzania have made fortunes as some of them became owners of superb state of the art branded cars and hefty cash packages.

Redds Original brand manager Victoria Kimaro said the brewers would do all the best to organise, carry out and organise the event from the preliminary stages to the grand final with high degree precision to meet the satisfaction of the entire fleet of fans across the country.

“It’s our maiden appearance as principal sponsors of the event but the beauty fratenity in Tanzania will be treated with top class entertainment second to none,” said Kimaro.

Salha Israel was crowned as Miss Tanzania winner at the grand finale staged in Dar es Salaam last September. Before cruising into the title, she bagged Miss Ilala crown to gain access into the proceedings.

Present during yesterday’s launch of the new sponsors were top Lino Agency executives Boscco Majaliwa, Prashant Patel and Miss Lindi director Shah Ramson Matimbwa.
