The Tanzania national under 20 football team conceded a 2-1 defeat at the hands of visiting Nigeria’s Flying Eagle in the first leg match of the Nations Cup qualifier played at the national Stadium in Dar es Salaam yesterday
The visitors’ goals were all scored by striker Achaji Gero who was on target as early as the fifth minute after the kick off.
Gero added the second and the last for the match just a minute to half time mark while the hosts trailed by that margin as they walked into the dressing rooms.
On resumption the host side displayed promising football to pull one back after 47 minutes through Atupeleke Green.
Efforts to find an equalizer for the host side were frustrated by solid defence of the visiting Nigerians.
The defeat has left the Tanzanians with an uphill task to dispatch the formidable Nigerians who will be playing before their home supporters in a fortnight.
The Tanzania team has not been performing well in away return legs and the job in Nigeria looks well an arduous one.
