Morogoro based boxer Francis Cheka continued his boxing superiority over celebrated Dar es Salaam-based pugilist Mada Maugo after winning their bout by points.
The highly entertaining fight took place at the Jamhuri Stadium in Morogoro on Thursday.
The bout saw Cheka tormenting Maugo in the 5th up to the10th round while the Dar boxer only managed to use his fists cleverly in the first four rounds.
Maugo’s heavy punches were a concern to Cheka fans who thought that their beloved fighter would be knocked out in his home town.
After sensing danger, Cheka changed his tactics to heavy and quick punches.
The new approach paid off as in the fifth round Maugo was brought down by quick jabs.
Maugo tried all he can to silence Cheka but most of his wild punches ended in vain and the Dar pugilist was guilty of letting his guard off, thereby exposing his face to tormenting jabs.
At the end the bout, chief judge Nemens Kavishe, and his jury of three judges gave Cheka 100 points while Maugo was given 98 points.
However, the results did not go down well with Maugo who complained of poor refereeing.
On his part, Cheka praised Maugo for managing to compete in all the ten rounds, describing him as a good fighter.
