Unheralded amateur Halima Musa posted 39 points to win this year’s edition of the Lady Captain’s trophy staged at the Dar es Salaam Gymkhana Club course on Sunday.
She won on count back over Stephanie Sayore as Violet Peter finished third in the final standings.
The day long event that saw National Bank of Commerce pouring in 21 million shillings attracted paltry 40 competitors.
Vivienne Mwaulambo the incumbent lady captain won the longest drive contest and bronze category winner on 33 points.
Joyce Svavar was runners up in the e category on 23 points to beat Fatma Makame who returned 31 points.
Kitirda Shah excelled in silver category for staggering37 points as Korean Hae Myung Rhee came second for her 32 points.
The Minister for Lands and Housing development Prof. Anna Tibaijuka was the guest of honour during the presentation ceremony held at the club’s roof top terraces on Sunday evening.
The Minister assured golfers and the rest of the recreational sportsmen and women that the Government stands to protect their venues.
It has been a growing habit of encroachers to invade recreational centres for estate development.
She said the Government knows the importance of having such centres for sports development as well as health maintenance.
