The management of Tanzania People’s Defense Forces (TPDF) has released Olympic-bound marathoner Faustine Mussa to join the Kibaha training camp ahead of the trip to London this weekend.
Mussa was the only athlete who missed the three-month long training camp in Kibaha due to employment commitments.

In an interview, the TPDF director of sports, one Busungwi, said his office received a letter from Athletics Tanzania (AT) on May 28 requesting release of the athlete to join the camp in Kibaha.

The army responded by releasing him on June 5 but the marathoner had to join another camp in Mbulu preparing for other army competitions, he said.

Busungwi, who rejected to mention his first name for reasons best known to himself, said he is now happy that the marathoner has joined Kibaha camp ahead of boarding the Heathrow flight on Sunday for three weeks camp at Bradford University in England.

Athletics team coach at the camp Zachariah Gwandu confirmed that the marathoner has joined camp. He said the camp is now full following the arrival of Zakia Mrisho after treatment in Nairobi.

The AT secretary general Suleiman Nyambui thanked the TPDF management for releasing the athlete.
Six Tanzania athletes are expected to represent the country at the London Games, and these include boxer Seleman Kidunda, runners    Samson Ramadhan, Faustine Mussa, Mohamed Msenduki and  Zakia Mrisho and the only swimmer Magdalena Moshi.
