  Challenges stakeholders on youths’ priorities
IPP Executive Chairman Reginald Mengi

IPP Executive Chairman Reginald Mengi has challenged stakeholders to the youth development policy to clearly state the priorities to help in moulding the group.

Contributing in the form of a question through twitter@regmengi he asked: Youth Empowerment. What should the following do? Government, prominent businessmen, parents and the youth themselves.

Responding to the question some people have called on the government to come up with curriculum on entrepreneurship from primary school level.

They also called on the government to create conducive environment to enable youths to get capital to undertake various entrepreneurship activities.

Other people called on prominent businessmen to provide priority to Tanzanian youths by employing them in their companies and organisations. They also said that businessmen should volunteer to provide youths with guidance and training in entrepreneurship.

Parents also have been reminded of their responsibilities of promoting communication with the youths instead of speaking down to them. They should talk at home. Youths should recognise that they are being listened to and their views were being valued.

Parents should also monitor their children’s talents and encourage them to grow.

For their part youths have been urged to understand what they want in their lives. They should have plans, talk to parents and teachers and be ready to receive advice and opinions from their parents, guardians, teachers and colleagues.

The contributors also called upon the youths to recognise their position as the manpower of the nation and to remember their responsibilities.

The IPP boss joined twitter in early January this year and has already twitted 33 times and obtained 681 followers.

According to his twitter page he is a follower of various people including President Jakaya Kikwete, Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Odinga as well as Kigoma North legislator Zitto Kabwe

Mengi is also a follower of prominent businessmen in the world including the founder of Virgin Organisation Richard Branson and prominent media owner Rupert Murdoch.

Recently twitter.com has been an important part for people to give their views on social, political, economic, business, entertainment and sports issues.
