Two rival bands, Msondo Ngoma and Mlimani Park Orchestra (Wana Sikinde), have started camping to prepare for their clash set for Christmas Day at TCC Club Changíombe.
Msondo Ngoma will camp in Mwanza while Sikinde will remain in Dar es Salaam.
Manager Said Kibiriti said yesterday that they will leave for Mwanza today to prepare for the big clash.
ìWe have decided to camp far away in order to prepare well. It is going to be a big event and, therefore, we need to prepare well to avoid disappointing our fans. We have chosen to camp in Mwanza because it is a good place to train. While in Mwanza, the band will stage a number of concerts to tune itself ahead of the unique show,î Kibiriti said.
Kibiriti assured their fans that Msondo Ngoma will emerge victorious in the concert sponsored by Konyagi.
On his part, Sikinde Planning Officer Hamisi Mirambo, said that his band will not travel upcountry. ìWe are going nowhere, we are just camping in Dar es Salaam,î Mirambo said, adding that the band will introduce its new songs on Chrismas Day.
The concert has been organised by Bob Entertainment and Keen Arts under the sponsorship of Konyagi, a brand of Tanzania Distilleries Limited (TDL).
The co-ordinator of the event, Joseph Kapinga, said yesterday that the preparations were going on well.
The contest is organized with the aim of knowing the best band in the year 2011 and to celebrate 40 years of Konyagi.
Each band will perform on a separate special stage to avoid sabotage and other complaints which may arise, especially sound.
