Premier soccer league resumes

The senior national team, Taifa Stars

After stalling for two weeks, the Mainland premier soccer league has resumed this weekend at various venues.

The league was temporarily halted to pave the way for the senior national team, Taifa Stars, friendly and African Nations Cup competitive first leg match against Democratic Republic of Congo and Mozambique respectively.

JKT Ruvu and Toto African played their return leg match at the Chamazi Stadium on the outskirts of Dar es Salaam by yesterday. The match ended in baren draw League debutants JKT Oljoro are at home to visiting Kagera Sugar in a match to be played at the Sheikh Amri Abeid Stadium in Arusha this afternoon.

Relegation-haunted Police Dodoma, who are under coaching duo of Rashid Idd Chama and Henry Mkanwa, have a date with Mtibwa Sugar in Turiani.

On Monday, Moro United under coach Hassan Banyai will trade with JKT Ruvu at the Chamazi Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

On Wednesday next week there will be three matches to be played at as many venues across the Mainland.

Oljoro will be at home to Toto Africa, Simba host Kagera Sugar at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam while Azam will be at home to Coastal Union at their Chamazi base.

Simba are still at the helm of the standings table with 37 points in tie with archrivals Young Africans who happen to be the title holders.

Police Dodoma and Toto Africa are at the base of the-14 team standings with 14 and 15 points, respectively.

Villa Squad, who used to float in the relegation shockwaves, have opened a two-point gap over the two teams of Toto and Police after playing 19 games.
