Aerial ball scramble between samba striker Felix Sunzu (R) and Police Dodoma`s Noel Masakuri during their Mainland premier soccer league match played at the Jamhuri Stadium in Dodoma.

Patrick Mafisango’s goal a minute into the second half was sufficient to keep Simba at the top of the Mainland premiership standings as Police Dodoma failed to utilise a home ground advantage yesterday.

The teams failed to break the deadlock up to the half time mark sharing the first half spoils.

Emmanuel Okwi made the full spadework that eased Mafisango to put his team ahead a minute after the second half kicked off.

The hosts played well to hold off Simba strikers who looked intent to increase the tally as the game raged on.

Simba have attained a 44-point mark to re-open the three-point gap over second placed Azam FC who are just a point ahead of holders Young Africans.

However, Yanga have a game in hand while Azam and Simba have twenty appearances with six matches to wind up the season.
