


Dar es salaam zone crashed out of national secondary schools games, UMISETA, as Zanzibar stunned pundits with semifinal progression of the event going on at Kibaha.
The competition got underway last Friday involving football and other games.
Dar es Salaam side that gained a pre-tournament favourites tag saw themselves being shown the exit door after losing to the Lake Zone combined team that comprise talents from Mwanza and Mara.
All eight teams from Dar es Salaam were eliminated with the exception of only a girls’ table tennis that consoled the region as they excelled over Eastern Zone.
The zone has players from Morogoro and Coast Regions.
The Dar es Salaam Zone chairman, Bryson Mbasha, applauded the existence of this years UMISETA tournament, acknowledging the organisation.
“The results show the team’s good preparations. We learnt our lesson and likely to bounce back next year,” he said.
Football semifinal matches kick off today as Zanzibar meet Lake Zone while East and West zones lock horns to eye for the tomorrow’s final.
The classification match for the third and fourth placed teams is expected to be played today between semifinal losers.
Combined Tanzania team in several sports disciplines will represent the country at the Federation of East African Secondary Schools Association FEASA to be staged in Burundi later this year.
