Mailand premier soccer league runners-up Azam have intensified their efforts to reinforce the team through signing new players for the next league season.
The ice-cream makers whose title race was halted by Mtibwa Sugar last Friday, have been reported to have signed up Kenya’s premier league’s top star George Odhiambo popularly known as 'Blackberry' for his efficiency.
The club’s secretary general Idrissa Nassor said all formalities to sign the player are complete as Azam await registration form from the Tanzania Football Federation.
Nassor said Odhiambo will be registered to feature not only for the premiership season but also for the CAF Confederation Cup campaign.
He also said Azam will intensify efforts to reinforce its fleet of players so as to excel in the new premiership season.
Odhiambo was present at the National Stadium when Azam had their penultimate round replay match against Mtibwa Sugar last Friday.
In related development rumors had it that Azam have strong intention to sign Simba’s prolific striker Emmanuel Okwi and Yanga’s industrious midfielder Haruna Niyonzima.
Azam set up the premiership 55m/- signing record when they won Mrisho Ngassa’s sign from Young Africans a season before the last.
Azam are also sure of utilizing the services of defender Joseph Owino who was ruled out throughout the previous season for injury.
