Simba Sports Club striker, Emmanuel Okwi

Mainland premier soccer champions Simba have completely denied reports currently circulating in Dar es Salaam that their talismanic striker Emmanuel Okwi is on the way to sign a new club.

The club’s information officer Ezekiel Kamwaga circulated a press release to the media yesterday to deny the reports.
Kamwaga said in any case Simba would be the first to inform the public should Okwi needs a transfer to any other club in or out of the country.

He said the club has open policy and has sold several stars with wide transparency citing Mbwana Samata who joined TP Mazembe as well as Musa Hassan Mgosi, the DC Motema Pembe striker, both of the Democratic Republic of Congo last year.

The spokesman said Simba have been deeply disappointed by the news that lack clarification and unsubstantiated.

Kamwaga said Okwi himself has denied the report that look to distort his psychological mood ahead of Sunday’s CAF Confederation Cup return leg match in the Sudanese township of Shandy.

He told fans of the club to be patient as Okwi is still contracted to Simba and so far there is no club that has shown interest to win his signature.

The inform Simba striker now ranking high among the team’s players has been scoring crucial goals and provides assists for his team both in the premiership and continental league.

Okwi killed the long standing jinx over the weekend when he twice scored past Simba’s archrivals Young Africans in the team’s gigantic 5-0 comprehensive demolition at the national Stadium.

As slippery as an eel, he also played outstandingly during the match to cause three other penalties to boost his team’s glorious victory.

His brace during the derby was the first since he joined the club three seasons ago from Kampala.

Rumours had it that the Ugandan is linked with Premiership runners up Azam who are believed to be ready to break the bank and win his signature.
