Azam entertain visiting Toto Africa in a tension packed Mainland premiership encounter to be played at the Chamazi Stadium in Dar es Salaam this afternoon.
Both teams are contesting for crucial points allotted for the match. While Azam urgently are targeting to win and boost their premiership title chase, Toto have to avoid a slip up that would send them into the relegation tunnel at the end of the season.
The match at Chamazi is staged just a week after the host side had another league tie against Mtibwa Sugar ended pre-maturely.
The match cost a referee job and resultant decision favoured the host side through boosting title chase with windfall three points and as many goals.
Three of the Azam’s matches in the last six rounds were clouded by controversies as referees took centre stage to brew hullabaloo strong enough to harm players, referees themselves and opponent teams.
Visiting Toto are not safe from the relegation shockwaves despite enjoying a three-point gap over Villa Squad and two over equally vulnerable African Lyon.
Very much tension is expected from the match as Toto must fight hard to move into safe horizon while the host side has equally the same objective to keep title chase alive.
On the sidelines are pacemakers Simba who will be following the mach with tenacious zeal to weigh their title winning possibilities should Azam failed to beat the visitors.
A draw would also work in favour of Simba to declare title haul ahead of their final match against rivals Young Africans at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam on Saturday.
Azam have no option except to win all the remaining ties including today’s to attain a 59-point mark already in possession by the pacemakers.
The ice-cream makers pray for Simba to falter in their final match so as to bank on goal difference computations should Simba lose to their archrivals Yanga.
Toto will be cautious in today’s game while bearing in mind that a relegation-haunted Villa Squad have their penultimate round match against Oljoro JKT at the same venue tomorrow.
Already two teams have qualified to float into the relegation, Moro United and Police Dodoma and the third team to follow them is yet to be known.
The relegation axe for the third team is likely to fall between three teams including Toto Africa, Villa Squad and African Lyon.
