The Tanzania Swimming Coaches Association (TSCA) expects to organise its general elections in Dar es Salaam on Sunday.
National Sports Council’s (NSC) senior official Mohamed Kiganja said about eleven members of the association have collected forms to contest for various posts of the new association. The election aspirants were expected to return forms by yesterday.
“The TSCA general election will be held at the Uhuru Stadium in the city on Sunday and all contestants for the association’s leadership posts are expected to submit forms today (yesterday)”, said Kiganja.
Posts to be contested include the president, secretary general and members of the executive committee.
Kiganja pointed out that some of the association’s members from Zanzibar have however, yet to submit forms but NSC will allow them to participate in the election despite the shortfall.
Feriak Kalengela will be contesting for the TSCA presidency while Hamisi Kondo and Thobias Mangungo are vying for secretary general and member of executive committee posts, respectively.
Kiganja named other contestants whose forms were yet to be submitted as Alexander Mwaipasi, Marcelino Ngalioma, Kanisi Maban, Najak Ahmed, Mariam Francis and Kaskela Mjovela.
“This will be the first ever general election for TSCA because it is a newly formed association and had all along been under the caretaker officials”, said Kiganja.
He also said NSC has ordered several other sports associations including Tanzania Amateur Volleyball Association (TAVA), Tanzania Table Tennis Association (TTTA), Tanzania Swimming Association (TSA) and national traditional sports association (Chamijata) to organise elections.
