



Tanzania Postal Bank (TPB) has donated 5m/- to support the University of Dar es Salaam’s Marketing Department, which is hosting an International Conference on Sustainable Tourism in Developing Countries (ICST-DC).
The Conference is slated for Zanzibar from August 8 to 9, 2012.
The outcome of the conference, which has attracted delegates from the academia and the tourism industry from all over the world, will go a long way in recommending strategies to transform the sector and inform policy making processes in developing economies.
Speaking at the handing over ceremony at the TPB head office, the Conference chairperson Dr Lufumbi Mwaipopo thanked the bank for its donation saing it will go a long way in assisting the preparation of the event.
The Tanzania Postal Bank CEO, Sabasaba Moshingi, said the bank acknowledges the contribution of the tourism sector to developing economies and the fact that it is facing many challenges, especially in respect of how it and alternative tourism products are managed so as to maximise their contribution to economic development and poverty alleviation.
He stressed the importance of the sector in publicising the country to the rest of the world, and therefore urged other stakeholders to support the initiative.
