Miss Tanzania beauty contest has landed a 61m/- sponsorship from Dar es Salaam-based Muzasha Tours & Safaris.
The firm`s managing director, Muzamil Katunzi, said yesterday in Dar es Salaam that they had entered into the sponsorship of the most prestigious contest with the aim of promoting domestic tourism.
ìWe will use the contest to promote our tourism locally and abroad through beauty queens, Katunzi said, adding that his firm would also meet expenses of the beauty queen who will represent Tanzania in Miss World set for later this year.
Katunzi congratulated organizers of Miss Tanzania Lino International Agency and events main sponsor Vodacom Tanzania for allowing them be part of the contest through sponsorship.
He called other firms to follow their footsteps by sponsoring the event to promote local tourism as it was appealed by the government.
On his part, the co-ordinator of Miss Tanzania, Hashim Lundenga, thank the firm for sponsoring the event and said that the sum would be used to sponsor the final event set for later this year.
He said the firm would be one of the co-sponsors of the pageant which its main sponsor is Vodacom Tanzania Limited. Another co-sponsor is Reddís.
More than 26 contestants are expected to start residential camp later this month to start rehearsals.
The reigning Vodacom Miss Tanzania is Mariam Gerald.
