Moshi Club golfer Abass Adam returned an impressive two under par totals 142 to beat compatriot Frank Roman and Isaac Anania by just a shot and win the TPC Open title, yesterday.
The two handicapper Adam trailed the overnight leader Roman by three shots going into yesterday’s final round.
Adam squeezed two under par 70 to beat Roman who staggered to two over par 74 and lose his grip o the title and the runners-up spot as well.
Roman was beaten to the third place by host club’s Isaac Anania whose scintillating two under par 70 in the final round made all the talk.
Roman, who won the Tanzania Sports Writers Association’s golfer of the year award for 2010, would rue to lose the title after a superb opening round store that put him as the favourite going into the final round.
Poor putts had put him in trouble during the final round to lose the title by a whisker alter stumbling to two over par 74.
Fourth placed in the event was another host club’s Martin McDonald who returned 72, 73 for a total one over par 145 to eclipse Nuru Mollel by a just a shot. Mollel placed consistent rounds of 73 in each round.
This is the third event in the Tanzania Golf Union’s calendar after the Morogoro and Northern Province Open.
The next championship is Junior Open that Hill be followed by Moshi Open mid next month.
