After missing three motor rallies of the opening season, the national champion Armajeetsingh Dhillon has bounced back to win the Arusha event last Sunday.
Dhillon who has been on the sidelines due to medical advice, cruised into victory of the tough and grueling rally to restore title retention hope.
Navigated by Zambian Dave Sihoka in their Subaru Imprezza N12, the duo whose car was first on the ramp beat second placed Bandhair’s duo of Jassy and Jasmeen by a narrow 16 seconds to claim their first title of the season. The Bandhair also used Subaru Impreza car as well.
Dhillon and his navigator clocked one hour and 44 minutes to open 32 seconds on top of the third placed Rishi Lodhia and Manmeet Birdi who used Mitsubishi Evolution four.
A total of 16 cars successfully finished the event.
None of the previous rally winners of the ongoing season managed to finish the event to throw the national championship wide open.
The result has given Dhillon a fresh hope for title retention should he win the remaining three rallies for the season including the African championship to be staged in Dar es Salaam in September.
The Arusha Motor sports cub is also expected to host the Guru Nanak rally later in October.
