Tanzania Olympic-bound qualifier boxing camps have been devastated by lack of inadequate and sufficient boxing kits to meet the training schedules.

The four camps located at Mwenge, National Indoor national Stadium, Mgulani and Ukonga  all have acute shortage of training kits.

All the camps lack sufficient number of gum shields, bandages, Clips, under belt gears as well as medical and other essential needs.

The camps have been established by the Boxing Federation of Tanzania (BFT) to prepare the athletes for the qualifying event to be staged in Morocco ahead of the London showdown.

BFT secretary general Mashaga Makore said the situation is alarming as boxers have to share some of the available kits to make the ends meet.

Makore said though it is risky so share some of the kits, his federation has no alternative option to resolve the crisis.

However, the BFT official said his federation is doing everything possible to search for money to purchase the kits though there is no response from the firms contacted to support the initiative.

Boxing is among the few games earmarked by Tanzania Olympic Committee to have their athletes compete in London.
